FAQs
What do you charge for a session?
I accept most insurances so your co-pay will vary. Please call your insurance company or check their online portal before your appointment. If you encounter any problems, I’m happy to help you. The panels that come up the most frequently in my practice are Anthem/Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Kaiser (Beacon Health Options), United Health Care/Optum, and Cigna.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes! You can book an appointment with Shea Herlihy-Abba. When you leave a message with your request just indicate that you are looking for a sliding scale appointment.
Is Telehealth an option?
Yes. Currently, Telehealth is the only option until at least June 15, 2020. I use phone or a HIPAA-compliant video chat platform for our sessions.
What is a CPRW?
CPRW stands for Certified Professional Resume Writer. If you are between jobs or looking for a new job, I have passed the highest levels of qualifications to provide you with feedback on your resume to help you get a better job.
Do I have to provide a Credit Card number to secure a session?
Yes. In fact, as of this moment, nobody in the practice can accept cash or check for payment due to the pandemic. However, as a general policy, a valid credit card needs to be on file at all times to cover “no show” fees, copayments, coinsurance, and any other incidental fees such as assessment fees for career counseling. You can always opt to pay via Venmo or PayPal if you would rather not use the card on file. In general, Shea and I will do our best to inform you if we need to charge more than $50 to your card.
Why can’t you bill “no show” fees to my insurance?
Rent is due regardless of whether or not you show for an appointment and insurance companies generally do not cover “no shows.” Life is unpredictable now more than ever and we appreciate that. Please do the best you can to let us know as soon as possible if you cannot honor an appointment. We will do the same. Unfortunately, appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a $75 cancellation fee effective June 1, 2020.
What is EMDR like?
EMDR is hard to describe. The idea behind it is to help you step back from thinking too much and let your brain take over and heal you're traumas. Don’t worry though! You’re still 100% in control. It works for depression, anxiety, trauma, and panic attacks.
How often will we meet?
We will meet weekly in my Denver office or via teletherapy. I work intensively with my clients. It’s important to me that you finish the work you came to me wanting to do. I would rather see you reach your goals in six months than six years.
